June 30 | Injured Green Turtle Rescued By Lamcot Cont

Lamu Marine Conservation Trust is still in collaboration with Watamu Turtle Watch for the rehabilitation of Shella the turtle.
The effort of Watamu Turtle Watch to improve Shella’s condition is coming out as a success.
To keep you updated here is a short report on how Shella is doing at the Watamu Turtle Watch Rehab;
For sometime Shella was not able to eat on her own, she had to be fed, well, hopefully she is now able to eat on her own and infact her diet keeps on changing from eating sea grass to shrimps to fish e.t.c. This resulting to an increase in her weight from 21.5 Kgs to 24.5 Kgs.
The wide open cracks are forming healing tissues which aid in closing the cracks of which have already started closing down.
She is now swimming but still having a problem to control her floating system, whereby, when she is swimming her chest sinks but where the cracks are don’t touch the water.
One of the most important thing is that she is responding very quickly, when being scratched she shows very quick response and that she is loving it.
